The Dutch Bakery Museum Hattem

About the Dutch Bakery Museum

The Dutch Bakery Museum is located on the banks of IJssel, in the picturesque fortified town of Hattem. It was founded by Gerrit Willem Barendsen in 1977. The most interesting fact about this bakery museum is that it is the largest in the Netherlands. It consists of two buildings – Pand and Backhuys – which are connected by an underground tunnel. The Backhuys, which was previously a café, was purchased in 1985 and became part of the museum in 1987.
